A Trans Am In Three Flavors of HDR

I have a love for old cars and was stoked to find this old Pontiac. I am pretty sure it is a Trans Am of the mid-to late Seventies vintage. What I am sure if it is Cool even in its less than pristine condition. I saw this and thought it would be a great HDR subject. I took the photos to merge with my PowerShot SX10is. The very last picture, taken for comparison of original subject to HDR, I took with my Olympus SP-350. So here is a Trans Am in Three Flavors of HDR.

Bold and bright, a glimpse of a new tomorrow maybe?

Where To Now?

I wanted to try something a little different for this post. Normal I photography organic things, things that are green, blossoms, bees and such but today was different. Why? The sky was incredibly rich today. With the contrast of white clouds against the brilliant blue it got me thinking trying some captures in B&W. I know it sounds weird but I thought I could get completely different feels from shooting the same object against this beautiful sky.

Where could I do this to good effect? The Cemetery of course! I had just a few minutes on my way home to grab these and plan on going back but till then: Where to now?

A Few Since The Last Time

Though I have not an opportunity to get to know my D60 better on the up side I have done some work around our place. Sorry no photos on that end but trust me I am truly saving you from being underwhelmed. What I did get to do was do a quick walkabout this evening  with my Canon Powershot SX10is. Here are a few since the last time!

This wasp is either bring home dinner or getting ready to go fishing. Dinner I think, no?

IMG_8779The Monarch Butterfly is one cool Butterfly. Every Summer I  marvel at these wonderful butterflies but there are less of them to marvel at it seems recently. One blogs I follow, Her Way at Crabtree Gardens, has a passion for these Magnificent Butterflies as well.  Check her place out and hear her thoughts on this subject.

IMG_8755I cannot shot reds of yellows very well. Just can not do it. So as I was checking out one of the Blogs I love, Googsy Photography, I came across this beautiful yellow Tulip he had captured so very well. I commented how I have trouble with the color yellow in my captures. His  gracious reply with words of encouragement had me pursuing a great capture of yellow flora. Well the above capture is not great but I wanted you to see this little yellow flower just because…it is really tiny! That is my wedding band for a size comparison.

IMG_8817I have been in pursuit of a good shot of this Dragonfly. I saw it for the first time on our place a few weeks back. I have been on the lookout for it since. Today as I standing on the path to the creek it showed up just outside optimal shooting range of course! And as you see it is green. So is grass. We have a lot of tall grass on our place so it was challenge to get my camera to focus on the Dragonfly not the grass.  I lost a lot of the battle but this capture was worth it. Notice its lower left-wing: Part of it is missing. Trust me it did not affect its ability to fly and allude me!

One Till The Next Time

Yesterday I was hoping to get a few hours of face-time with my new-to-me Nikon D60. But as it is more than not in life that did not work out. I did get a few moments to capture the Trumpet Vine I discovered while mowing along the upper fence line. I plan on getting out there today with the D60 but if not here is one till the next time!

I used my Canon Powershot SX10is on this one.

A Sleeping Lady and One Cool Bee

Since the Sun rejoined the party I decided I would go for a little walkabout this morning. The objectives were simple. One: Get to know the full range of my Canon Powershot SX10is a little better. Two: Get a handle on manually focusing my D60 since it does not focus how I think it should. Three: Enjoy this wonderful cool and sunny morning. Mission accomplished.

Since most of my photos are from my Point and Shoots I have not been using my DSLR equipment much at all. I bought them for portrait shooting and have a class I am taking in the Fall to get lined up on that end. Well enough babble. Here are two I took this morning with my Powershot SX10is. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed just being out and surrounded by nature!

A Dragonfly Hanging Tough

I was taking a few pictures of one of the Button Bushes on our place late this afternoon. As I was about to head back towards the house a dragonfly happens by.  I hoped he would land close so can get a few shots of him. He obliges and I start  taking several captures with my zoom since he is about eight or so feet from me. Just as I got about six or seven captures the wind shows up. I keep shooting thinking he will fly off anytime now. On top of that I have never seen one like him so I may not get another chance if he is not a native.  He does not fly off and I am amazed at this since the wind was quite brisk. Below are three photos of this amazing little Dragonfly hanging tough!

This was before the winds showed up and got the party started.

A Couple Of Crazy Days

I have had two of the craziest days this weekend.  The Bride is in school again and I am her lab partner or ” slave monkey and photo bug” if you wish. The great thing of on-line schooling is that which is also the worst thing: Technology!  We are having issues to say the least…uh not us but with the techno-stuff.

I also have had a mechanical issue with my ride and found out today I will have to get the last little part, to finish the job, from the dealer. Oh, I also got a foreign object stuck in my eye.( I seem have a gift for this but it still stinks when it happens.) After flushing my eye for at least a half an hour, and what seems to have been divine intervention, I am object free in the eye department.I have never felt pain like that before and I am gratefully for the gift of sight.

So what to do in such a frenzied mess?   Share some captures I grabbed in between the madness!

The Fleabane are back and I am glad. I grabbed this shot as they were closing for the evening. I used my SP-350 for this one.

This is a Buttonbush bud and when they bloom they are a great asset to nature. I used my SP-350 on this shot as well.

I took this last night using a tripod and my Powershot SX10is on full manual. I was having a issue with it being to beige and set the white balance on "florescent" and this is the result.
