Indian Blanket After The Storm

Early AM this day was great by one heck of a storm: Rain, cloud to cloud lightning, hail and shear winds. In its path a lot of folks plants and flowers took a beating, along with many tress and power lines, but the little stripe up the road seemed to fair fairly well. I am glad since this Indiana Blanket flower has a relatively short life span I had zero captures of them this year. So here is an Indian Blanket after the storm.

Waiting On A Button….

…….well a few Buttonbushs to be exact. Any normal year they would be here within a few weeks but it looks like the harsh Winter has but them in  delay pattern. What to do till their arrival? Look at and post pics from last year. Here is one of these great little pollinator filling stations at work!

Quiet, Lovely Little Fleabane

I took this shot July of 2012 with my Pop’s FujiFilm S5700 after visiting with he and my Mom. Most of my shots suffered greatly during most of 2012 due to many factors: My beloved Canon Powershot S3is died and I had to learn a new camera( minor issue), Pops had a heart-attack due to the stress of being Mom’s diagnosed with stage-four lung cancer, and the knowledge that I had just spent the last Mothers I ever would with my Mom. Oh, we also had a family member living with us who was suffering from severe depression. To say 2012 was a hot-mess of a year would be an understatement but I still had nature and photography as my solace. It was a place where I could go and listen to and for the quiet things. It allowed me the space to detect the whisper that is faith and to connect to hope. I found those thing through the lens and in the smallest of things like this quiet, lovely little Fleabane.

Roses Along The Way

I was making a delivery several years back when I came across these understated yet beautiful roses. The fence in the picture looks like it is old but is in fact old wood used to make a decorative accent to a small flower garden. I used my now unusable PowerShot G3 in this shot. I miss my G3 and am glad Canon fixed a design flaw it had on the later generation PowerShots. I am however looking for a way to fix it but  I am happy and feeling blessed  with the cameras I have. So here is some Roses along the way.

After The Rain

I  had a great day working in the yard today plus a lovely dinner with The Bride. After we arrived home a fast approaching storm line keep me from going out and getting any new shots for the day. So I gave in to the carbs pushing against my eye lids and laid down on the front porch to await the storm. The front part was a breath of fresh air as the coolness was welcomed after a hot day of shrubbery wrangling. The storm rolled past and I had about a half an hour of light left to grab a few shots. So here is one after the rain.

A Voilet and A Vulture

I was trying to get a few “into the sun” shots of our Violets when I was once again interrupted by my puppy, er cat Butterfly. Where I goes she goes and though I usually do not mind there are times that it is a problem. As I tried to take a few shots more of the Violets, with her walking on me and the rubbing up against my hand and camera, I looked up and spotted something dark against the Blue sky. It was a Vulture riding the wind that is coming into our area by an approaching cold front. So I have two very different subjects but I find each to be very beautiful in their own right.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA IMG_1113
