A Good Day, A Very Good Day

This being the last day of The Bride and I’s staycation we simply wanted to be. We wanted to be with good friends, eat well and enjoy the day. Well for the record it was a good day, a very good day.

Butterflies enjoy the day by the lake too.

A late afternoon shower left the approaching evening with a hint of coolness to come. Welcome home it seems to be saying.

Natures Bokeh

The perfect bokeh is said to have smooth edges of the images outside the depth of field. In researching this technique I came across the simplest and best explanation at Ken Rockwell.com. There are also varies sites on how to do this technique digitally but I am trying my hand at it using only the camera’s setting and my talent  luck. So with that said here is natures bokeh. Let me know what you think.

When You Least Expect It

Life is amazing in many ways but one way is when a gift shows up when you least expect it. I was out in the side field on our place in pursuit of a capture of a very tiny but amazing flower. The two below photos are ones I took later of this little flower and in the bottom one I used my ring to show the flowers size.

I have observed Bumblebees feeding on these flowers that are just a fraction of a Bumblebees mass (See Below photo).

IMG_0070 As I was trying to figure out my lack of success I “felt” the air around me move. I looked up and saw the source of this only four or so feet from my face. Can you see what moved the air? Yes life is a challenge sometimes but amazing shows up when we least expect it.

Three From An Old Friend

I have been posting on this blog for about a year and four months. When I started I was using my old beloved Canon Powershot S3is more than not. It was less than three months into my journey as a photo-blogger-dude that my beloved Powershot S3 died. Well not in the literal sense but a fatal lenses error was to much for my lack of technical skills mad skills to  overcome. In some ways I feel it may have been my old friend’s way of paying me back for upgrading to newer tech.

Fast forward to yesterday when  package was awaiting me at our front door. In it was the winning bid of an online auction and one I was glad to see. Here are three from my-new-to-me-Canon Powershot S3is and one of the most versatile point-and-shots out there to date, that is my humble and very biased opinion by the way 🙂

Mellow Yellow On A Gray Day

I have problems taking good pictures of flowers that are either yellow or red. I was inspired by a Tulip over at Googsy Photography and decided to try getting decent captures of some yellow today when the opportunity was presented to me today. So here is some mellow yellow on a gray day.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Some Fleabane Love

One of natures little wonders on our place is the Fleabane. It is a delightful and delicate looking but very tough plant with many blooms. The flowers are made up of small, thin petals of white or pink (Well at least around here they are) and has a yellow center. They can withstand severe dry or heavy unrelenting rains. And they are wonderful little filling stations for pollinators. Some here is some Fleabane love!
