Little Splash Of Purple

On my walk down to the creek today I came across a little splash of purple. It was a small patch of Violets and it harkened me back to the first part of my photography re-awakening. I quit shooting film because I had rounded off the camera’s film advancing wheel and just never sought out another camera. Well that was till my Dad gave me an old HP 315 and from there I was hooked. The next camera was a Vivitar 8300 and that camera cemented my love for photography and more specifically nature photography. On my way back I spent some time using a blast-from-the-past, the Canon S3is, to grab a few captures. It was a challenge because my outside cat Butterfly follows me around like a puppy, a pushy puppy, but like a puppy none the less.

2013 In Review by WordPress

I am a pretty clueless guy so I did not know really how many photos I uploaded and shared, nor how many visitors and views I had. I checked to see what was working and to challenge myself on the things that were not. After viewing my annual report I am amazed that so many people dropped by my place and commented on my stuff. It humbles me I am very thankful for you all.

I want to Thank WordPress, and their dedication to bloggers of all shapes, sizes and flavors, for the vehicle with which I have shared a sliver of my world with quite a few folks. The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared this 2013 annual report for my blog. Thanks again and here is to a wonder-filled 2014!

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 8,400 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

My Top Thirteen Of 13′

I have a confession: I like my stuff o.k. but not much has not been singing to me much this year. It was difficult to find thirteen I liked but as I was going through them I become hopefully though that 2014 will be a better year for you and me. Happy New Years ya’ll!

Little Blue Thing Amongst The Green Things

I was out and about a lot this past summer taking pictures on our place. Most were not keepers as I have experimented more with all the manual settings on my equipment and different techniques.  Though there were times I thought the end product was more important than the journey I usually landed back ta ground zero: contentment. It was an oasis in the desert that has been my life this past year or so. I found  new green and blooming things as well as fighting off a lot of the old bugs and flying pests! Good times. Quite times. Times of discovery. Did I mention good times? Well I found this yet-to-be-named-by-me-because-I-have-no-idea-what-it-is little blue flower on one walkabout. I took a few captures of this flower and my wedding band as comparison so you can see how small it is. Small in size but large with wonderment and awesomeness…I know that is not a real word but this flower is! So here is a little blue thing amongst the green things.

An Early Autumn Find

As I was perusing  my-way-back files for a worthy capture for the day I came across this one. I took it with my Olympus SP-350 in early Autumn. You remember back when the sun was making daily appearances, quite unlike this late Fall fun known as the gray days of Fall around here. And the pollinators were drinking in the last of natures harvest before it beds down till Spring. So I share with you an early Autumn find!
