Queen Anne’s Lace and Friend
I have had about an hour of free time the past several of days to get out and grab a few fresh captures. In between work, home projects, a fundraiser walk with friends and fixing a computer issue the opportunities have been few. As I walked about our place I noticed the Button Bushes are starting to come to life, though not yet at full blossom, and other hopeful signs of thing to come. One thing that did not come back on our place this year is the Queen Anne’s Lace. It did however appear in the ditch across the road to my delight. As I was approaching the plants I noticed a dark spot on the top of the bloom. I thought it was an insect of some kind but it was actually a deep purple bloom among the white. After a little research I found that this is an identifier of the Queen Anne’s Lace. I am not sure why I never noticed it before but I guess one is never to old to learn. I set about to get a few shots of this flower when a random bug came by and wanted in the show. So here is a Queen Anne’s Lace and Friend.
Two Using PhotoEffects 8
I am having some computer problems and may not be able to post for a bit but wanted to post something till I get them resolved. I have backed up everything, I hope, to an external hard-drive and I plan to reinstall Windows 7 be the end of the coming weekend. I would not mess with it if my programs did not keep closing and Windows 7 would find a fix but a month of this fun is all I can stand.What does this mean to you? Nothing really but for me it means a lot less frustration and hopeful a more seamless post-shot editing process after reinstall is completed.
As I hope to move into portraits sometime this year I need good software, and a solid PC, that will help me reach my potential. Trying out freeware versions of some of the software out there seemed like a no-brainier. One of the things I was doing was testing the waters of several new-to-me software before the gremlins arrived. One such was the a freeware program from OnOne software called PerfectEffects 8. I want to Thank Steve @ daPonte Photography for taking his time to responded to my question about OnOne software and LightRoom 5 and their strengths and weaknesses. It took a bit longer than the past two years for the Hummingbirds to show up but three have been by the feeder today. This one was very cooperative for a Hummingbird, like they wanted me to know “We are back”.

For reference the daisy Fleabane is as big around as the fingernail in my fore finger. So when I took this I did not know the black “dot” was anther bug on this capture. For your viewing [pleasure, Wee Two!
Heading To Bed
Those of you who follow this blog get to see a lot of Fleabane pictures posted here. I have only recently began to see these wonderful little pollination stations as anything other than a weed. In that space I found several types of Fleabane on our place.We have the Common or Philadelphia Fleabane as well as the Daisy Fleabane. Daisy Fleabane has done very well around the old Eagle Talon carcass in my yard this year. My discovering the awesomeness of these little plants is a recent thing as I mentioned earlier. As life heated up several years ago I retreated to nature to find space to deal with life and death. One of the things I noticed is that they start closing up around dusk and close up till morning. So here is a Fleabane heading to bed.
