Thursday’s Special: Abstract (Response To Guest Challenge)
I am a pretty boring photographer when it comes to being creative. When I read the title of Paula’s Thursday Special: Abstract I had to look up abstract photography and see what it is about. Well now that I am more than a little confused by conflicting definitions and ideas of abstract photography I am not about how I will approach it. Here are five photos I have taking in the last month of so. With the Winter weather and gray days that accompanied them I had to really search for things to shot. This took me out of my comfort zone but the challenge helped me “see” different photography wise. Here they are and you tell me if they are or they are not abstract.
Reflections Of The Fallen
ClawZilla At Rest
Butterfly finally has been able to go outside some and I for one am glad. Me and my skin and needed the rest as the restless cat was beginning to make a nuisance of herself. With that said she seems to now prefer inside to outside and , well let the games begin. Here is one of ClawZilla’s peaceful paws.
Shadow play
Right off I must confess: This is not a great or even a good picture but it is cool. I was sitting at The Bride’s desk as the last rays of the day were making their selves known. I caught something out of my peripheral and turned towards it. What I say was the sun coming through one of the lenses of my glasses and making shadow play on the wall. I grabbed my Lumix DMC-ZS1 that was within reach and took this shot ” free-style”: I just basically guessed at where to point and took the shot so the camera’s shadow would not be present. Nor did I want it to look like I was taking a shot. Here is a little shadow play.
The Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Orange
I am taking the easy route for today’s post and simply reblogging my post-a-day site’s post.
In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Orange you glad it’s photo challenge time?.”
Today I am taking this challenge as part of my post-a-day site. As I was pondering what to shoot I took look around the lab, better known to others as their study, and I found my subjects. We have a surprising amount of orange in our work/play space.
First is the simple toy I had as a child known as Jacob’s Ladder. Most children today would find this toy to be too low tech.
I found orange on my chewing gum pack. really never noticed it consciously till this challenge.
Next is a plate The Bride had left on her desk after she ate here sandwich as she studied. I laid it atop of her orange school notebook.
Lastly is CD of one of my favorite singers Eric Peters. I was introduced to him…

Waiting
Past Holding The Present
After being stuck in our home since early yesterday evening something had to give. I broke out the extension tubes, an old Minolta film lense, the A300 and went in search of a few good macro this afternoon. I picked water droplets: Too hard to focus properly but I will try again because I think I can figure that one out. Barb wire barbs: Could not get my back to cooperate with me bending over in the cold temps. I will also try those again in the Spring, all though there will not be snow on them, which was what I was trying to capture. Snow on dead vegetation: Had a little luck with that and non-snow covered dead vegetation. The challenge here was once again the wind. So out of the dozen or so shots I learned a bit and have new goals. Till the next time enjoy this little flower skeleton with snow on it. I thought the wind blew it out of frame but apparently I got this before it did.
My 20th Wedding Anniversary Present
Between the rain-to sleet-to ice and now snow I have nothing new to post. So here is today’s post from my post-a-day site.
Around this time last year I got my 20th wedding Anniversary present from The Bride. Now our Anniversary was in the December past but with Pops death and all that comes with it we didn’t feel like celebrating too much. Not that it isn’t a big deal, it is, but it was a period of personal transition as well as a time of dealing with the grief for the both of us. My Pops loved my wife and knew her long before I did. Truth is I think he liked her a little better than he did me. That is alright with my because he liked my a whole lot. In that light gifts meant nothing, just us being together was the real prize. A bit about the ring. It is silver with opal and was American Indian made. It just sung to me with its simple beauty.
