It took a bit longer than the past two years for the Hummingbirds to show up but three have been by the feeder today. This one was very cooperative for a Hummingbird, like they wanted me to know “We are back”.

Heading To Bed
Those of you who follow this blog get to see a lot of Fleabane pictures posted here. I have only recently began to see these wonderful little pollination stations as anything other than a weed. In that space I found several types of Fleabane on our place. We have the Common or Philadelphia Fleabane as well as the Daisy Fleabane. Daisy Fleabane has done very well around the old Eagle Talon carcass in my yard this year. My discovering the awesomeness of these little plants is a recent thing as I mentioned earlier. As life heated up several years ago I retreated to nature to find space to deal with life and death. One of the things I noticed is that they start closing up around dusk and close up till morning. So here is a Fleabane heading to bed.
Two Of The Little Hoverfly
Hoverflies are obviously part of the fly family but also pollinators and apparently very good ones from what I have read. So today when I was able to catch about thirty-minutes of sunshine I was out and in search of something to photograph. When I spotted these two I spent sometime watching them and soon realize they do not scare away easily so shooting them was relativity easy. So here is two of the little Hoverfly.
Little Mystery Spider
This evening as grill was warming up I grabbed my Canon SX10is and headed to capture something I saw yesterday. Late yesterday evening I spotted something on one of the Fleabane blooms that are on our place. Since I am now a “man of a certain age” my eyes aren’t what they used to be ,I hoped a macro shot would help me confirm it was some type of spider. Well I can say it confirmed that it was something but I still am unable to positively identify it. I still believe it to be spider and am somewhat sure it is of the Orb Weaver family but……. for now it is a little mystery spider.

One On The Fly
The last two days have been an absolute blur! I could give you a punch-by-punch account but I will give you just today’s activities in the Reader Digest condensed version: Up at the butt-crack of dawn and on the road for run to see my great nice graduate, back to the old hometown to pick up The Brides new peepers and cell phone shop, Lunch, power nap, graduation celebration for a very cool young man I know and love, off to a second celebration for another graduate and finally home. After being gone a total of about fifteen hours today and driving about two-hundred miles I am amazed I remembered to capture a few picks of some fleabane I came upon. So here is one on the fly.
