Green and Red From The Day

Yesterday I had the pleasure of having my great-great niece dropped off so she could spend the night with The Bride and I.  Since we had committed to watch her we had to take her with us to the viewing of one of our friends who died Wednesday. I know his parents better than I knew him really but I knew neither would care. As we stood in the viewing line we saw old and dear friends. Man there is something about weddings and funerals, right? After words we went out to eat and then home for what turned out to be a delightfully quite evening. This morning before she woke I went and tried to grab a few shots of the changing leaves. The sky was overcast and there was a grey tint to the early part of the day but the reds of the fallen leaves stood out again the surprisingly green grass. Like the little bundle of wonderful sleeping in her bed I found this to be a pleasant and wonderful thing. Here are two of those leaves in different setting but I hope like them as I do.

Have you ever hit the proverbial wall and  you just have no idea what to title a post? As you can tell from this posts title, me too. I got nothing else.

Finding Starts With Looking

My post last night  was my artistic expression of how I felt about the challenges I have faced so far this week. To add to that weight was of the death of a friend of The Bride and I .Now I must confess I am an emotional dude who thinks a lot.  Add on top of that I suffer with SAD and though I love Autumn for me it carries some unique challenges. Like being nice when I am tired and cranky. By the way my work is such I have full contact with the general-unfiltered public a lot. So today after running errands I went in search of something wondrous no matter how small. Here are some of my discoveries from our place. Remember finding starts with looking.

More Thistle Love

As I was waiting for the last load of wood pellets to loaded into the bed of JT I walked about a bit. As is the case more times than not areas that have no importance to a business image or bottom line usually gets little care. It is a case I am sure of “out of sight, out of mind” and in some cases this leads/adds to urban blight. Not the case here because nature has reclaimed the area and made it its own. This is made possible by a man-made drainage ditch which separates the homes, lining the back of this business, from the access road to the loading docks. Along the ditch trees have done well for themselves. This has minimized human intrusion and has allowed a green-space to flourish there. One of the plants growing there is Thistle, which some see in a very negative light. I see them as little filling stations for pollinators and since they have not taking over the green-space here I think it is because nature knows how to take care of its own.  So here is some more Thistle love.
