One From An Old Friend

As some of you may know my beloved Canon Powershot S3is is now deceased. I have purchased a used Canon Powershot SX10is and look forward to the season to come for more photo ops. In the mean time I have been cruising through my old shots to fill the gap till the-things-that-bloom arrive this Spring. Here is one I took with the S3 in the Summer of 2011.Enjoy!

Self-Portrait On My Fiftieth

There has been very few new photo-ops for me as of late. I have been somewhat busy getting the house ready for the approaching winter. Oh, and working. A lot. Today I had planned on chasing the last of Autumns colors and take a nice walkabout with The Bride on this my Fiftieth Birthday. That did not happen because I had to work due to inventory. The upside is I have a job and the house is ready as it can be for the soon the be here winter. The down side is I have no recent images to post.

So what is a person supposed to do? Since winging it is my default mode,  here is a self-portrait of how most people see me. For all of my followers out there, both of you, here is my self-portrait. Enjoy!

Saying Good-Bye ( Maybe) To An Old friend

My PowerShot S3is flashed a “lens error, restart camera” code while I was running the zoom out this evening. After changing batteries and trying everything ever mentioned on Canon Forums (well maybe not everything but you get the picture) it still will not reset. Do not feel sorry for me because I am doing a good job of that all by myself! Seriously I am a little bummed but I do have my G3 and Olympus SP-350 to use till I can see if there is anyone who can fix my S3is reasonably.

Till the next time here are few of the hundreds of pictures I have taken with the S3is. I hope you can see why I really love this great little camera. Enjoy!

A Few Till The Next Time

With the long weekend coming up I suspect I will busy at work the next couple of days. After that I need to finish up a few house projects as well this long weekend. Well not so much as finish them but at lest get them pointed in a positive direction. Till the next time be safe an as always : Enjoy!

I took a picture yesterday of this Rose but  felt like I “missed” the shot I was after. I went back today and it was almost at the end of its bloom. Still beautiful none the less.
Right above the Rose in the proceeding picture was this new Rose about to be born.
I love Hydrangeas! From dead little sticks in the winter to these wonderful and colorful plants in the spring. Their color is decided by the pH of the soil it is in if I understand correctly.

Taking a Moment

I shot these from my folding chair, with my PowerShot S3, as I waited on the front porch for my ride to show up this morning. Enjoy!

A very young squirrel hanging outside his house.
Same little squirrel having what I suspect would be breakfast.
The little squirrel in B & W.
My sunglasses, just because.
I was playing with depth of field on this one and thought the green background would make the hand rails contrasting colors “pop”.
My ride was running late so I watched the paint peel.

Back To Basics

The Canon PowerShot S3is has been a faithful companion in my journey through the lens. I recently purchased a Canon PowerShot Sx260 HS that was quickly becoming my main weapon of choice in this journey.

Several weeks a go a good friend told me she was letting her daughter use her Canon SX10 this summer. I told her she could us the Sx260 HS since she likes journeying through the lens as much as I. Actually a little more than I do I belive and knew NOT having a camera was, well a cruel but noble sacrifice.

So as my SX260 heads out and about to parts unknown I turn back to my S3is and a used G3 I picked up a few weeks back. Here a few I took recently. Enjoy!

A thistle about to bloom.
The head lights of a Classic Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible of unknown age.
A gardner snake in our back yard. Notice the head “puffed out” to imitate the triangle shape head of a poisonous snake.
A saluting Daisy.

The Monarch Butterfly

My first recollection of seeing a butterfly was of the Monarch Butterfly. As I prepare The Brides Minolta X-370 and load up my PowerShot S3is in search of the best “Super Moon” picture I can find I leave you with two of a Monarch Butterfly. I took these, I believe, back in 07 or 08. Enjoy!

The Super Moon Is Coming

The Super Moon is coming! The Super Moon is coming! I honestly had not a clue there was such a thing, or that it was coming, till I read a facebook post saying it was coming. So after a search on the web I now know the moon is as much as fourteen percent bigger and thirty percent brighter than other full Moons of 2012.

In honor of the Super Moon I present to you a picture I took back in 07 or 08  with my Canon PowerShot S3is of said moon. Enjoy!
