“Thistle Me This” Says The Bee
Out My Office Window The Weekend Past
The mornings were unusually and delightfully cool this weekend past. As I drank my first Cup-of-Joe, sitting on the front porch, I watched the coming and goings of the Hummingbirds who have blessed our place this year. With the hot caffeinated brew, and the rising sun, warming me bones I formulated a plan and set about trying to get a few good-to-great captures of them.
I found a good spot close to some Jewelweed they seemed to like and nestled in with some fauna between it and me for cover
I would ease up and snap a shot or two but found the speed of the Hummingbird to be more than me and my Canon point & shot was able to come to grasp with.
Since I could not get the captures I wanted I could not help feeling blessed none the less. I was enjoying the beautiful blue sky and the whimsical cirrus clouds so life was great.
As I was setting there enjoying the day and the inner play of the Hummingbirds I saw that one keep going to this tree. Can you find it?
I was able to get several shots of this little poser. I hope you enjoy this lovely as much as I did and do!

Small Things On A Nice Lazy Day
Lavender Haze
I spent an hour or so just sitting in the side field on our place late this morning. It was extremely hot and I found a nice shady spot along the path back to the creek. As I sat there in the shade, with the heat and humidity pressing upon me, I feel in love with nature all over again. I took my camera with me but it was laid at my side more than not this morning. As I took in the sights I was also aware of the sounds. As a small Field Skipper butterfly passed by I could actually hear it ‘s wings flapping as it went by my head! It is amazing what one can hear when we quiet ourselves.
I also heard the wings and squeaky little calls of the Hummingbirds, which I had though had taken off south early.I thought this because I have not seen many the last few days at the feeders. Slowing down enough to really see, I became aware of just how much Tall Ironweed, Spotted Jewelweed and other nectar rich plants that we are blessed to have on our place. It seems the fields bounty taste better than my sugar-water!
Sitting there looking, observing and listen to things outside of me helped me as well. Nature is pretty cool that way! Here is a few I took of the bounty of Tall Ironweed we have on our place.

Welcome To The Thistle Stop Filling Station
Once again I have hit a dry spell of new captures. This time it is due to the season opening play at our local Playhouse. Our playhouse rocks, and after a rocky season for The Bride and I, it was good to see a great start to a potentially great season. As many legs were broken on stage and the night…uh, early morning arrived , I had to once again dip into the way-back-files. Here is a capture of several pollinators getting topped off for the road. Welcome to the thistle stop filling station!

The Gate Keeper
Basking
After driving umpteen miles for work today, I had to drive an hour plus to my dad’s place. Once there I replaced the radiator on The Brides ride. Since we were using his car he was glad to see me complete the task. On the way home night reclaimed its rightful place and the day move unto the next. With it came the Blue Moon. I was amazed and delighted by the light the Blue Moon was putting out. Since I have had little time to take any new captures as of recent, I went with one I took a few weeks back. Here is a Chicory plant basking in the sun.
