Song Sparrow Blending In

I have what we call in the Commonwealth “The Crud” and have become somewhat stir-crazy in the recovery process. It is a process: You feel bad, get better…wait for it …feel bad and so on till Spring!  I decide I needed some fresh air and headed outside to try to photography something. Anything. I found a photo-op by opening my ears. That’s correct, my ears, not my eyes. Coming from the back of our house was a constant sound of little voices, twittering, signing almost none stop as I waited and listened hoping to see what was making this chorus of noise. Then I spotted what it was and truly had a hard time getting a good lock for a photo or two. They move fast and they perfectly blend into the winter foliage.  Somewhere in this photo is a little brown bird that I believe to a Song Sparrow. They have enjoyed the day and half of almost pleasant weather to flutter about doing whatever it is that Song Sparrows do. Well that is when they are not singing.  See if you can find the Son Sparrow Blending In.

New Prespective

I am not a fan of Winter. The cold and lifeless nature of it has for years weighted me down. The three-plus months of the year it occupies I had wished I was a bear. Though I know nature is resting so was can have new life in the Spring, I have always seen it as a dead time of year. That is until today. I grabbed my SX10is Canon Powershot as I headed out for a small walkabout our place. As I made my way to the creek I simply stopped, closed my eyes and listened: There was the dead plants and bushes rustling in the wind but also the sound of birds fluttering about the place. So I stood under a tree on the banks of the creek and observed the varies small and busy birds gong about looking for food. There were several varies, none of which I can yet identify, but all were very much present and alive. As the next months turn colder and maybe grayer I will go for more walks and see if I cannot identify my Winter guests. Here is one from the day.

Some Reflections Of Days Past

As I sit here working on this post The Bride is taking a nap after her first day back to work since last week. On the recliner laying above her head is one of the cats from the pride and The Boy is laying at her feet. All is calm, All is Bright.I am amazed  it was just a week ago we were heading up north to see TSO perform The Lost Christmas Eve.  It was just seven days ago that I had on this earth with my Pop’s. Less than twenty-four hours later I would be parent-less.That process started a year ago this coming weekend when my mom died.  It is even more amazing that through this valley of death, my folks lives still shines through, for though I mourn I must do what I was raised to do: To Love, To Give and To Live.  I will do my best to live this legacy of life my folks have given me. So as I live out my life I will love as best I can, share as long as I am able the things I see. Here are a few from the day.

Two Flavors of Water Drops

This first photo I took this Summer past and I was trying to capture the essence of the water drops as I perceived them. After many attempts I realized just be there in the moment was more important than the actually capture.

The second one I took this evening as the ice-storm was moving through. As The Bride and I arrived home safe and sound I brought the salt substitute for the steps out of the garage. As I was de-icing the steps I noticed the ice-water droplets on the tree out front. Of course once again was unable to capture the raw beauty but was thankful for the chance. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERABe safe and I hope you all enjoy these two flavors of water droplets!

Little Blue Thing Amongst The Green Things

I was out and about a lot this past summer taking pictures on our place. Most were not keepers as I have experimented more with all the manual settings on my equipment and different techniques.  Though there were times I thought the end product was more important than the journey I usually landed back ta ground zero: contentment. It was an oasis in the desert that has been my life this past year or so. I found  new green and blooming things as well as fighting off a lot of the old bugs and flying pests! Good times. Quite times. Times of discovery. Did I mention good times? Well I found this yet-to-be-named-by-me-because-I-have-no-idea-what-it-is little blue flower on one walkabout. I took a few captures of this flower and my wedding band as comparison so you can see how small it is. Small in size but large with wonderment and awesomeness…I know that is not a real word but this flower is! So here is a little blue thing amongst the green things.
