A Couple Of Hand Held HDR Photos

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post I had spent the hour I had to kill taking some pics. Since I do not own a good, or even a half-way decent tri-pod I did these hand. With that said any ideas on a good-to-great-very-mobile-lightwieght-full-size-tri-pod?As I wait for replies to this question, here are a couple of hand-held HDR photos.

This May Be My Greatest Capture Ever Part II

My last post I introduced you to one of the very few pictures I have deeply invested myself in the subjects involved. This one is of someone and a great companion that have invested their selves in me and the Bride. I took this picture a day before my Mom passed.  Mom’s Jack Little Bit had checked on her regularly in bed as we all waited for “it” to happen. After she was satisfied  she would come and sit at Pop’s feet. This is one of those moments were I was allowed into her world. And this may be my greatest capture ever.

A New Challenge

Today a friend requested that I take photos of the birds that come to their feeder. They want to have them turned into prints and they will hang them through out their house. Well after taken some causal captures of a friends girls this afternoon I went over and looked over the place logistically, where to position myself, find when and where the sun was the best, etc. Turns out it is not in the afternoon so over the next several weekends I will be driving out to their place and trying my hand capturing birds in photographs. Here is one I took this evening and I am looking forward to a new challenge.

Raptor On A Wire

As I was walking from my car to the house after work today I spied something sitting on the power wire going to our house. I came in a grabbed my Canon Powershot SX10is and took the following shots.  I know we have Red-Tailed Hawks, Barred Owls and an occasionally a passing Peregrine Falcon but I cannot identify this raptor. A little help from any birder watchers would be helpful. Till the next time, Enjoy!

(Side note: Spell check did not like the way I spelled raptor and changed it to rapture. That is why I need to edit my stuff a little closer).

The Difference Twelve Or So Hours Make

The day greeted me with a few inches of sleet covering a thin blanket of  ice. It did make our old barn look quite nice but several hours after this shot it was getting serious and I though “Here we go again”.IMG_0763

By the end of the day we had sunshine and The Boy was happy as we were.

Just Stopping By

A couple of Canada geese are visiting our place though I am not sure why since they usually fly up the road  to the lake. As I was getting some items out of my car I spotted them in the field next to the house. Thankfully  one of those items was my Canon Powershot SX10is. I was able to get several shots of them but not wanting to spook them I could not frame them both in the same shot. So here is one of my “just stopping by” neighbors.

Moon Unedited

I took this shot of the moon last February and I used my Canon Powershot SX10is in a very cheap tri-pod. The speed and aperture setting are forgotten but I used, I believe, the tungsten setting on the white balance. Or maybe it was Fluorescent H, none the less I guess the point is play with all your cameras setting. If I hadn’t I am not sure I would still be taking the shot.
