I did a little walkabout with my Olympus SP-350 today. I have been using the manual settings in hopes of learning more about this wonderful little camera. The following pictures are not my best but I like them just because I was able to take them. Having the means and the ability, even with used and older tech, to take photos and share is a wonderful privilege indeed!
Need to get more accurate on my exposures but I like the layers to this photo. This is from my apple tree the Bride calls Grandfather Apple Tree. I could have taken a photo of the apple on the out most parts but where the fun in that?I love old rusty metal and nature. This is a marriage of a little of both.Out of focus but the ant is a bonus I did not see when I first took the shot.Cool, no?
I purchased an Olympus SP-350 last year and found myself always falling back on my PowerShot S3is. Now with the potential demise of my S3 I have taken up arms again with the SP-350. Here are a few from the day. Let me know what you think!
Nice day out the office window.Down time + me with a camera= this.Tried a depth of field shot with the fore ground as the focal point…. fail but I like it anyway!I like the varies subtle layers of color and texture in this shot.Trying to find the sweet spot with the macro settings.A Bumblebee that was not busy like his brethren flying around this little garden. Must have been a great tasting vintage pollen.
My PowerShot S3is flashed a “lens error, restart camera” code while I was running the zoom out this evening. After changing batteries and trying everything ever mentioned on Canon Forums (well maybe not everything but you get the picture) it still will not reset. Do not feel sorry for me because I am doing a good job of that all by myself! Seriously I am a little bummed but I do have my G3 and Olympus SP-350 to use till I can see if there is anyone who can fix my S3is reasonably.
Till the next time here are few of the hundreds of pictures I have taken with the S3is. I hope you can see why I really love this great little camera. Enjoy!
This day, the day of my fiftieth post, was at best overcast and ominous like that little cloud hanging over Charlie Brown. Yet I broke out my old friend, the PowerShot S3is, in the hope of kicking it out of the stadium. As I tried a few different manual settings to compensate for the lack of visible UV I discovered the ISO setting above 400 has a good bit of noise. Unfortunately I never recognized this before. As Lucy would tell Charlie Brown “That will be fifty cents” after a session of the obvious. In true Charlie Brown fashion I forged forward with hope and optimism and took the shot. I think that being compared to Charlie Brown is not a bad thing so as always I hope that you Enjoy!
With the long weekend coming up I suspect I will busy at work the next couple of days. After that I need to finish up a few house projects as well this long weekend. Well not so much as finish them but at lest get them pointed in a positive direction. Till the next time be safe an as always : Enjoy!
I took a picture yesterday of this Rose but felt like I “missed” the shot I was after. I went back today and it was almost at the end of its bloom. Still beautiful none the less.Right above the Rose in the proceeding picture was this new Rose about to be born.I love Hydrangeas! From dead little sticks in the winter to these wonderful and colorful plants in the spring. Their color is decided by the pH of the soil it is in if I understand correctly.
Here are several random photos from the day. Enjoy!
Lovely LiliesNot the the best framed but I like it anyway.I was blessed to see an owl out at dusk.A fading rose on a faded fence line. And more lilies to end the post.
Vacations or holidays are times most of us use as a way to get away from it all so to speak. Most times we return refreshed, rejuvenated and motivated to get done what it is we have set out to do. Between times of vacation or holiday we set forth to get it done whatever “it” is. Moving about our places in time and space to reach the goals of “it” I know sometimes forget to take moments and live in the now. I imagine some of you do as well.
Over the past decade of my life I have tried to take in more of the here and now. Right now in my life that has become more critical than ever. Enjoying a loved, time with a friend, or taking in a scent that I may have missed before by rushing running after “it”. I will not go into why this is critical to me but I feel it should also be a important part everyones life.
Life ends and loved ones are gone. It is a fact of this existence but before that time comes many things pass us that we should have taken in. Ten minutes is not a very long time but ten minutes can refresh, focus you and connect you to others and things of beauty around you. Make that call you say you do not have time for, write those words you have running around your brain that you think would make a great poem, read a poem, take time to just breath in the coolness of a fall night, feel the rain not curse it, look at the stars, look at your child and dare to be amazed, hug someone , stop and take that picture……….
This female Mallard duck was hanging out in the parking lot this morning. She was quite the poser. I love the blue feathers in the females wings,Daises hanging out in the partial shade of the tree line on the side of the road.I have no idea what type of plant this is but I like it!In a word: Amazing!
