Messing With Effects

Late fall I took several macros of a wasp feeding on a Common Wood Aster. I found the process very eye-opening and a new-found appreciation for wasps. So when I found this one today I thought it would be cool to play with a few effects. Now don’t ask me how I got here: I am that person who noodles around till it sings to me then forget how I got there. I am going to attempt to turn this one into digital art. Not sure what medium but oil paint will be my starting point.

Our Boy

After a stressful but fun filled day with The Bride and The Boy I am doing taxes……..so I decide to just share my post from post a day blog.

The Jagged Man's avatarMe And My S3

Today we had to take Our Boy to the vet. We had changed his dog food last year in hopes of him losing weight. We also added green beans to his food about mid-year,plus we use carrots as treats. We work him 20 or so minutes a day, if not more, and walk him more than we used to as well. He has been looking good but we had concerns something was wrong because it was not till recently that he has started to loss weight. The test for parasites, heatworms and such came back negative but we must keep an eye on his weight. So now we have a new scale to monitor his weight, and…sigh…ours as well, now that we have a base-line to work from. So after his ruff treatment t the vet we played his favorite thing: LLAB. Yes we spell it backwards because if we spell…

A Thank You and An Old Log Home As Digital Art

I have being blogging for several years now and I’m humbled by you here in the blog-sphere. You are gracious with your comments and patient with my attempts at this thing that I do, whatever it is. To you all I’m honored to say “Thank You” and “You all Rock”. I simple want you all to know that and you inspire me to go out see the world through many lenses because of your work and I am better for it.

Now it is confession time: I really enjoy the process of turning my photos into digital art almost as much as I do taking the original picture. The journey has opened my eye to something most know but as usually I am late to the party: A good photo does not translate into a good digital art piece. Now with that bit of obvious out-of-the-way, the truth is it is fun, and challenging, to show your photos in a way that there are two interpretations of the same composition. Well maybe there are three or four….you get the picture. So in that vein here is one of an old log home as digital art.

More From Yesterday’s Snow Day

The snow, though lingering, is in its final meltdown as we speak. I am glad I got several good captures yesterday and a good walk in with The Boy. The first shot is one of the branches on our sycamore tree. The second is of a seed-pod on said tree. As I was taking the last shot the temps were coming up and all the snow on the branches were coming down. I liked the effect but I also was a little nervous because I did not has my lens rag with me and needed to dry it off quickly. Thankfully these shots were taken on our place, so a dash in to the house and the lens was taken care of in short order.

After work today the snow slowed my trip home but once inside, safe warm, I had to find something to post. I am and NASCAR fan, though not a raving one, and my Pops was too. He liked Dale Earndhart Jr and Sr so when I came across these die-cast cars I bought them in his honor. With that as the back-story I came up with the idea for this shot. After much trail, and more error, here is today post: This is for you Pops.
