A Lazy Sunday Walkabout Part II

Earlier today I posted some pics from today’s walkabout on our place. Happily I am coming to grips with some of the tools my Olympus SP-350 has. I will say cloudy, low light days like today are not much of an issue but I still have not come to grips with its evaluation process on my macros. Today that was compounded by the ever-present and steady breezes we have lived with around here all year. I am not really complaining but stating a fact. Trust me come July I will be singing praises to any comforting breeze! The only downside so far is it sucks the life of AA NiMH batteries. Standard AA’s? They stand no chance at all. I will be looking at Amazon for options to this problem in the near future.

When the batteries died I switched to my-new-to-me Nikon D60. I hope you enjoy these few captures I took from a lazy Sunday walkabout!

A Damselfly on what I suspect is a weed. We welcome weeds on our place more than not.

Another type of Damselfly on our place. I do no know the species or type but it was a hard to get a decent capture. I moved, it moved so I just stood still and it landed about six or so feet from me.

Lazy Sunday Walkabout

The Sun has stayed out of sight for the last several days but for me that is the perfect scenario for a walkabout on our place. With the temperature in the low sixties I set about the place at a lazy pace.With no hurry in me I found several wonderful spots to stand and enjoy the world around me.

Here are a few shots I took before the batteries died on the SP-350. I had my new-to-me Nikon D60 with me as back-up and will post some of those later. I hope you too can take a lazy Sunday walkabout!

A Few More With The SP-350

Here are a few more captures from the Olympus SP-350. This is somewhat of an eclectic mix. Since I am planning on using this camera a jack-of-all-trades for the foreseeable future I think this good. The Olympus SP-350: Here We Go Again!

I have a used Olympus SP-350 that I have a love/hate relationship with. I am trying (again) to get the most out of this sweet yet frustrating little camera. Here are the latest from my SP-350. Enjoy my friends!

A Few Poppies and Something Else

There is a wonderful patch of wildflowers not far from my work. The land is owned by the city but a local doctor seeded it with the flowers several years ago. He pulls up the weeds and watches over it with great care. I stopped by to take pictures of the poppies there, since the state mowed the ones by the Interstate, and found this pink one among the mix.

The “something else” is the white and blue flower pictured below but I have had zero luck in identifying it. If someone knows what it is please leave a comment. Until then enjoy!

Using The Zoom

I am using my Powershot SX10is more as of late. I bought it use to replace my beloved Powershot S3is. I have neglected the SX10is because compared to the S3 it is just o.k. So here are a few of nature, on a very windy day, using the long end of the zoom on the SX10is. These were taken without a tripod or mono-pod so I am pleased they came out as well they did. Did I mention it is a very windy day?
