Weekly Photo Challenge: The Hue of You

As I enjoyed time with old, and new-friends-to-be, this past weekend I took several shots of the fire in the fire-pit. And I reflected. Fire is a living thing and if used rightly it is a great tool and comfort but if not it is anything thing but. The same thing can be said about our time spent in this life’s fire. Looking into the fire I am reminded of something I have come to learn and share with others over the years: The difference between empathy and understanding is simple, Empathy is being in the pan and Understanding is being in the Fire. It is a subtle difference if you have never been in the fire but once there the pan does not sound bad at all! Right now I am still in the fire but I feel it is tempering me for the better and in a positive way.

This picture is the best representation of this weeks photo challenge at this point in my life. Faith, Friends and Fire.So enjoy the Hue of me.

Honoring My Lady

Over the last several weeks The Bride has walked with me on a new journey. Due to the uncertainty, and the hazards, of my last job I took another job with less stress but more steps. Literally. I walk a lot! As my first day approached my Pops had a heart incident and spent the last several days in the hospital.Through it all The Bride was positive and calm.

Today I took a breath of a moment just for me and set out to get a few captures. As I walked about our place I took a picture that I think she would like and is a way of honoring my Lady.

A Shadow of My Former Self

I want to Thank JF Owen for nominating me for The Liebster Award. Since he was correct on me giving a pass to the award I did want to Thank him for his kind and humbling comments and the nomination. In return I am re-blogging a post of his and encourage you to check out his place and buy his book Chara’s Promise. Excellent read.
Since last week was quite the ride, and I am behind on everything period, I hope to post some new captures later today I hope. Now to get some processing done on the photos I took as a second gun at a wedding last week. Till the next time, Peace.

I hope you’ll forgive me if I’m not my normal jovial self today.  I’m struggling to deal with some unanticipated guilt.  I’m a bit ashamed to talk about it, but I suppose that admitting my sin is the first step in starting the healing process.  Here goes.

I ate half a doughnut this week.  There, it’s out.  I’m so embarrassed.  In my defense, it wasn’t really a lapse in personal willpower.  My grandson, Cruz, had “Daddy Doughnut Day” at pre-school and his dad had a business commitment that he couldn’t side step.  So, Papa J volunteered to cover for dad and that in turn lead to me eating the doughnut.

So you ask, “How is it that a lifetime member of the Twinkie fan club finds himself on a diet?”

food badWell, Twinkies are certainly part of that equation, but so are pizza, Pepsi, Pop Tarts, hot fudge sundaes, toasted grinder…

It Sings To Me

The past year has been a difficult one for some of the folks in my community. (For the record it does not matter if it is my online community or those I see daily). Life has been quite a bit like, well life, and it seems to be the gift that keeps on giving.

The last several days have been productive around our place but in that time I have visited some of my community in the hospital and at a nursing facility. Not much time left I am afraid for new captures. So I went to the way-back-files for something to share. As I was looking I found this capture from my old Canon G3 and it sang to me. May it sing to you as well.
