“Through Our Eyes”
I spent a little time yesterday at the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall and at the “Through our eyes” exhibition tent. Though I was very young at the time of the Vietnam war I do remember the body counts that were displayed on TV. I also remember the horrendous way the media and the public treated these young men on their return. Since then we have as a society learned to be more respectful of those who serve and have served us. The following set of pictures are pictures of pictures. The caption that goes with the photo corresponding photo is displayed first. I hope to show a little of the life in Nam “through our eyes” of the soldiers that were there.
Lest We Forget
I was able to attended, though only briefly, a bike show today and saw a ton of amazing rides. Yet out of all of them I knew immediately which one I would post first. On this Memorial Day weekend let us remember the cost of being free and show honor to those who have keeps us so. In that light be well and watch out for bikes, and opportunities to give thanks, because they are everywhere!
Pretty Purple Plant Plumage
Indian Blanket After The Storm
Early AM this day was great by one heck of a storm: Rain, cloud to cloud lightning, hail and shear winds. In its path a lot of folks plants and flowers took a beating, along with many tress and power lines, but the little stripe up the road seemed to fair fairly well. I am glad since this Indiana Blanket flower has a relatively short life span I had zero captures of them this year. So here is an Indian Blanket after the storm.
Bikes and BBQ
The season of Bikes and BBQ are upon us. There is a show come up here is my neck of the woods that I am looking forward to. Though i no longer ride I love em just the same. Here is a look back at the variety of bikes for your viewing pleasure. Oh, and the is a picture of some really great Q’ as well!
Four Megapixel Macro Monday
I took this shot with The Bride’s Canon SD300 using the manual settings mode. Once the exposure setting was set I turned my attention to the white balance (WB). The AWB was not at all accurate so I fiddled around with the WB settings till I felt the capture was more representative of the actual thing. This was hard since the camera has a smallish two-inch screen with no view finder. Other than the small screen and no viewfinder (which no small compact has). Also since this camera came out 2004 or 2005 I am even more impressed by its drive-ability. It is shots like this that show why I love her little camera.
A Rose and A Rose To Be
One Cool Classsic
I took this on the fly yesterday with The Bride’s Canon SD300. I usually get a better result when I am not in a hurry but we were on are way to meet some friends for dinner. I had to just about 10-seconds to grab a couple of shots and this is the best one. Hope you can look past the flaws of the photo an enjoy one cool classic!
Unsafe At Any Speed
If this title made you think about the Ralph Nader and the Corvair then you are telling your age a bit. But I am not talking about in the title that but about the rollers skates I had as a child: The strap-on-metal wheels type. Of there was the more modern skates available at the time but we could not afford them so I got some similar to these. I used to strap them on and skate about like a little mad man. Oh we did not have helmets at the time. Nor elbow and knee pads. Looking back I am nostalgic about a lot of things but wonder how I survived my childhood!
