Rust On Wheels

I took this in 07′ with my PowerShot S3is.I was rummaging through the way back files for a series of photos I took a little bunny and ran across this overlooked treasure. Now to continue looking for the lil’ bunny……3

This weeks Black & White Sunday @ Paula’s place, Lost In Translation, is a bit of a challenge for me. Winding seems simple enough but there is not a whole lot of winding things here that I can think of. So I decided to use a couple of shots I took in the near past.

The first is one I took of a bonfire. Theoretically I can say the fire winds its way around the wood to gather oxygen to fuel the fire.

The second one I took today of a sweat bee on a dandelion out by a friends small lake/large pond. The sweat bee is winding its way around the curved petals of the dandelion as they reach for the sun and wind back towards the earth………

In the Background is today’s theme @ Paula’s Thursday’s Special. I love macro and have some really good shots I would love to post but I cannot seem to find them. So in their place are these two I took this past October. The thing I am discovering about macro is the background needs to have a decent bokeh or consist of a single color (solid blue sky for example). The subject of your macro needs to be in the depth of field and the correct background makes it “pop”. I have a nice shot in B&W of a bonfire I took that has no reflections on the background and the solid black background helps draw your eye to the flames…..but that is for another post.

I took the picture I posted and converted it to B&W. Staying true to yesterday’s lazy theme this morning. Have a great week folks!
Most days I would rather be out taking photos but today I am feeling a little lazy. Actually lazy and sore from busting my butt yesterday to finish a home project to surprise The Bride. Since I haven’t posted lately’ and did not even feel like going through the way-back files, I instead I took this photo of the top of my PC tower. Now on with my do-nothing attitude on a lazy Sunday.

Paula at Lost In Translation is back after a unforeseen lay off. Like many others I have missed her posts and her challenges. The input others bloggers bring to these challenges, and how they push me, I have missed as well. In her re-entry into her place in webdom(it is a real word I am sure) she has issued this Thursday’s Challenge: Creative Intervention.
Here is my contribution to this challenge.

As a lover of art, nature and photography I sometimes come across things that are a mix of the first two and I photograph it. I came across this humming bird which fits the first two things, art and nature. As a fan and admirer of hummingbirds I found myself attracted to this tiny sculpture. It was done by Amber at ArtGypsy. She uses things like old watch parts mixed with traditional art materials to make some of her work. In the Winter when the hummingbirds head home this helps me look forward to the Spring and their return.

My grandma painted and got to be very good at it. Her works inspired me to try my hand at paining last year. The truth is I cannot dedicate the time needed to do it right at this time in my life. Instead I take my photos and use a photo editing plugin to transform them into art. This is the intervention part of this challenge: I need to capture the brilliance that is nature and yet express my creative side. This helps me find a balance, a happy medium on the edge of the blade of creativity and the real world and still be, well me.
With that said, Welcome Back Paula. You were sorely missed!
