Ten Random Pictures From 2012

As a new season of life begins I look into the mirror of the past. I reflect on  “that which has been” and all the questions it brings with it. One of the questions is simply why do I enjoy photography so much. On the surface I must admit I simply want to be in the moment. Upon further reflection I believe this is counterbalanced by another dynamic: The need to share with others.

In that spirit here are Ten Random Pictures From 2012. Enjoy!11-16-12 S700 DSC_0026 DSC_0045 IMG_5316 IMG_0134 IMG_0045 DSC_0184 2012 03 11_1946 IMG_0017 2012 03 11_1917

Till Then

I want to Thank all who have and who will stop by my humble little virtual abode. Over the next several days to weeks I will be unable to post. Life is what it is and I have to do that which I would rather not but must do. So is the way of life. I am posting  this picture simply because it sings to me. Till Then, Enjoy!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

As The Day Fades

The sun was rapidly sliding down the day into the approaching dusk as I was mowing the yard. The next few days will be rainy so I just had to stop  to get a few shots in. Here are three from around our place this evening. Enjoy!

These Thistles, along our fence line, are patiently waiting to deploy the last of its thistledown. They will not have to wait long as Autumn is steadily pushing its way into the area.
The Fleabane are all but gone from our place. The only thing that remains are the stalks and the thrones upon which they had once set.
A solitary Grasshopper was a surprise third element of this photo. I was trying to get the contrast between the rust of the fence post and the dead heads of the summers past Golden Rod. As I was focusing a little head pops over the top of the post. I just had to come around and take this shot.

I took all the above photos with my Minolta DiMage S414.

Some Red From The Day

As I mentioned in an earlier post I purchased a used Minolta DiMage S414. It does a decent job with reds that my other cameras do not but I am having trouble framing shots with it. Since I am starting to like this little point and shot I will keep at till I learn to drive it a little better. Till then here is some red from the day. Enjoy!

We had a heavy fog last night, combined with freezing temps, and it left its icy mark on everything.
The Knock Out Roses on our place refuse to be knocked out by the fog/frost combo.
The day got a little warmed and much sunnier. Not sure what type bush this is ( I call ever bush that produces red berries a Holly bush) but as the leaves fade the berries keep shining!

Four MegaPixel Love

Since the rebirth of my PowerShot SX260 HS from its water grave I have decided to use it sparingly. While it rested on rice I used my repaired-by-me PowerShot G3 in its stead. In that week or so I started to  realized how truly awesome this little camera was and still is. So here is a little four megapixel love. Enjoy!

This more than likely will be the last of the Chicory plant blooms for the year. This one was taken on our place this Sunday past.
The leaves of a soon to be sleeping tree adore a good size rock. This was taken this past Saturday.

One Great Shot

This photo in and of its self is not a great shot. Not even average really. No not great, average nor for that fact much of a shot at all. So why the title “One Great Shot”? You see I took it with my Canon PowerShot SX260 that has been in deep rice for a week and two days. Yes the one that went swimming with the fishes is back! A big Thank You to the person who did not listen to the naysayers when said person proclaimed ” I wonder if I covered with rice this electronic do- hickey that I dropped in the fish bowl       if it would dry it out?” Yes my brilliant friend it will!

As Autumn Approaches

As Autumn approaches us here in the Northern hemisphere things fade in the season I called once The Season That Falls Into Night. So I expect those who are now in their spring and soon to come summer seasons to keeps us splashed with colors and blue skies till next year. Here are two pictures of things on their way out till next Spring. Enjoy!

This Monarch Butterfly is getting some fuel for it’s incredible journey to it’s Winter home. The New England Asters seem to be hanging on just for this reason.
These small White Wood Asters are hanging out on a fence roll on our place. I have several spots where they are plentiful and they draw a lovely variety of pollinators. Even as their petals start to fade there is usually, in the warm part of the day, several varieties of bees, moths and such around these beautiful flowers.
