In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Reward.”
Engaging in nature photography is my way of slowing down, keeping things simple, enjoying the moment and simply being. And when I see something for the first time, or in a new light, that is my reward. So when I was photographing these brown wasps as they feed among the White Aster I learned they are more than their reputation, they are a thing of wonderment.
What a lovely reminder to pay more attention. It’s neat to imagine a wasp’s life without associating the fear/irritation of being stung or harassed. Looks like a nice little dinner he’s having.
Thank you Anna for your comment and yes I believe it was indeed a delightful dinner.
I could not get a good capture of a behavior the wasp does while feeding and that is it stops and cleans it antennas often. It was very delicate motion and one I would have never known if I hadn’t overcame my fear of them.
I love these macro shots 😎🍭☀️ ♥
Thank You! They were fun to do and very educational as well.
mmmm nice macro shots! Action, detail, colour – it’s all there.
Right place, the right light at the right time…..even this dog gets lucky every once in a while 🙂
‘Being in the moment’ – why is it so hard for us western beings to embrace this disposition. I like the idea of using photography to slow your gaze. It’s like a meditation then, isn’t it. And beautiful shots as an end result. Win, win all round 🙂
We are too busy, too occupied with (fill in whatever eats your time here), too tired, too much this or that. I from time to time just stop and say “no” to all that and carve out the time for just being. Usually I have a camera in my hand during those times.
