A Wonderful Find

Today I happen upon a very old American Beech Tree. If the sign beside the tree is true, it pre-dates the year 1840. I was carrying my Canon SD780IS with me since my iPod touch has died. Though the photo sucks I am glad I did not forget it like I do most days….just saying.

Black & White Sunday: Cityscape

For Paula’s Black & White Sunday I am using to very different views and types of a cityscape. The top one is of Louisville, Ky taken from the Indiana side. I used to spend a lot of time down by the mighty Ohio River looking over at the lights of the big city. I never wanted to live there but the river and the reflections sing to me till this day. The second is of a small town’s downtown not from our place. I hope you enjoy them both.

Thursday’s Special: Minuscule

This challenge has a real life tie-in for me. As I have been looking for part-time work, because my wife is a full-time nursing student, I have been hyper-aware of the “small stuff”. This week I filled out an application and turned it in but the pen I choose was leaving little drops of wet ink as I wrote. To someone else this may not have been an issue but to me it was. Or put another way: to some one else it was a small thing , a minuscule detail of no import. To me: Lack of detail, sloppiness and not putting my best foot forward.Since I feel Paula’s spirit of graciousness does not sweat the small stuff here is my Thursday’s Special: Minuscule.

Besides my wedding band this is my favorite ring. I wear it every day new and have for the best part of the last two decades. It has wear marks, scratches and imperfections in the Blood Stone the eye cannot really see. That is why I like photographing it in macro and seeing the miniscule markings that time has left on this ring. Kind of like life, no?

Black & White Sunday: Windows

I realized long ago that the only thing that is certain is our last breath and all else is a gift. In that mind-set I present my take on Paula’s Black & White Sunday: Windows.

An art accessorized window = Cool

Technically it is not a window but the glass of a showcase can give you a window view of things of beauty. Yes cupcakes to me are a thing of beauty and well they are quite tasty!

The written word can be a window into the soul. This is a photo I took of the words of Psalm 23 from my Pop’s Life book from his Memorial.

Thursday’s Special :Gold Inside

I really wanted to come up with something awesome for  Paula’s challenge but the guest host  Ron has set the bar pretty high. That on top of The Bride and I having a very special guest this weekend and a friends viewing has me somewhat pressed about what to present here (That and the fact I am always late for these challenges….)  Here is what I could come up with in the 5 minutes I had to available. I watched this wasp for several minutes before taking this photo. After watching how the wasp fed on this White Wood Aster I can tell you there is gold inside these little flowers. DSC02366 copy I love coffee. There is gold inside this cup.
