Black & White Sunday: Still Life

This weeks Black & White Sunday photo challenge at Paula’s place Lost In Translation is: Still Life. I took a few shots yesterday that I thought may fit this theme so I decided to give it a try. When I “thought” this I had not yet downloaded the pictures I took yet. I had used an old film camera lens, a Minolta MD 28mm F2.8 lens, adapted to my Sony A37 and natural light for the captures. When I downloaded them I noticed something: The images that I captured did not look the same as the one I saw through the viewfinder. *Sigh*  I guess age, not technology , has caught up with me and my ever changing vision. That is the “front” story now for the back story.

There is a Angel I have displayed on my bookshelf that states “Friends are like Angles  you do not have to see them to know they are there.” My Mom had a love for Angel figurines. After she died I gave all her’s away as way of paying tribute to the way she gave of herself. Last year I bought this one to honor her and the friendship we developed after she raised me to be a man. Like life itself, not all things are in focus but we must march on till they are.

“Let’s Spend Some Time……

….being me and You” are lyrics from My Grey Suit by Nick Dittmeier and the Sawdusters. Though right now things are tight, My Bride and I have to a night out just to be us. Those nights usually involve music and last night was no exception. With her third semester started and the difficulty level rising me and My RN nursing school Bride headed out for a night out that was long over due. Here is a few pics I took with my iPod Touch last night of My Bride’s and my night out listening to Nick and Zane Hilton of the Sawdusters

P.S. Yes she brought her materials to study for a test Monday. And yes she did study and finished it.

Thursday’s Special: Life-Size

Thursday’s Special: Life-Size is the photo challenge at Paula’s place, Lost In Translation. I have to admit that I have been taking care of grown-up stuff and I am suffering from a lack of imagination at this time. Yet I felt the need to try none the less. As a nature and animal lover I think the two pictures I am going to share are life-size.

Our Corgi, better known as The Boy, is lovable and has a spirit that is larger than life. His eyes are very soulful and his nose is an adorable punctuation mark of cuteness one cannot deny.

Little frogs have a allure to me because though very small they are survivors. Since there are no small frogs around here this time of year here is a photo of small frog figuring I found.

Time Is Fleeting

Time. A measure each of us has that is not infinite. Time. Stolen from those who need it most and given, it seems, to those who use it for ill. Today I was once again reminded of this truth. In our little town the first homicide of the year was recorded Wednesday January the 27th. A young man, 22 years of age, lost his life after answering his door and was shot in the chest “from close range” the coroner said. The details at this time are not being publicized but there is a person-of-interest that the police are looking for as a witness to the crime.

Time. The time I spent in this young man’s presence made an impression on me: Polite, funny loving, intelligent, quick witted and diligent at what task laid at hand. He served me and My Bride food at our favorite restaurant and even if he was not our server he came over and made sure everything was as it should be. Though we haven’t gone as much since me Bride started nursing school, if we saw him out in town he always would stop and talk to us.

Windell you will be missed and I wish I had known I would have taken the time to tell you so.

A Couple Through An Old Lens

Well it is tax time, and I needed a break from the good/bad news that is experienced around these parts at this time of year. So posting here is my stress relief. (Also My Bride has a math test for her nursing class tomorrow so I am keeping a low profile.) The two pics here I took with my Sony A37 and a Minolta MD 28mm 1:2.8 lens attached to it. The lens is a co-workers that he bought when he was a younger man. The lens has to be 30+ years old but I like the quality of the pics it captures when I do my part right. So here are a couple through and old lens.
