The Button Bushes are now in bloom and our Spotted Jewel Weeds should be blooming soon as well.With more rain in the forecast that should help the Jewel Weeds along nicely. Also the Dragonflies are enjoying the cool down the rains have brought and are landing and staying in one spot longer. The later allows me to get maneuvered  in such away I can get some decent pics of them (The one pictured here I believe is a Female Widow Skimmer). Enjoy the Weekend folks!

In life we have many choices and as so often the case we look at our desires over our needs. We shoot for the stars yet we cannot truly see them for what the are because we neglect the little things: Compassion is not a big act but it is a big deal. Honor with deed not words. See others as part of humanity, to which we all belong, not a clog in a wheel devised by our selfish desires. Love your self.These are just a few of the little things.

In this life we have a lot, and I mean a lot of firsts: First steps, first fall, first love… and this list is a long one if were are lucky. Some firsts are good, some are not and others are somewhere in between. Yesterday I photographed my first wedding and it was a wonderful experience for me and not so much for others. It was a day of firsts in many ways and in some others not at all. In the not at all category I know good photography in dependent on good light, good glass and a little luck. Great lenses can help you overcome low light or bad light situations but today I did not have either good light or great glass. What I did have was a great time spent with a wonderful couple who made my job both harder yet easy all at the same time. I will process both the photos and the experience over the next week or so but today I introduce another first for me: The Naked Wedding Cake. Done in B&W of course because that is the way I roll.

 

Tomorrow is the first day of my stay-cation. What would you do on your first day off work?  I bet you would not shoot your first ever wedding because that is so relaxing, right? What a way to stat a period of time that is supposed to help you unwind…..welcome to my world 🙂

Several weeks back I took my car to get new tires installed. I try to shop local and also frequent stores and business that I have connections to through my work or personal life.The tire shop was located about 20-25 minutes away from my house. I arrived and after meeting the owner and his right hand man I got a tour of the property. Now I am an old car nut as well as old buildings and barns fan. This day I saw a little of both so life was good till they showed me this little gem: The old barn on their place had not one but two old log cabins inside the barn! The best guess was the cabins were built then the barn but no one knows for certain.They way the cabins were position I could not both in a single shot si I took the one with the best light. I took this with a point & shot I was test driving so the photo does not do the place justice.Still pretty cool stuff none the less.
