Two More No Less

I am on a little bit of a “shooting into the sun” journey right now. I do not believe it is in response to some inwardly morphing of my self awareness because I dive too deeply into the shallow well for that. It is something I find to be cool. Enjoy!

Not the end but a new beginning for a thistle.
A new sunflower I was introduced to but unfortunately forgot its name. I love that the colors are still vibrant even at the end of its life cycle.

I am a 61 year old guy who is asking questions about life like "what does it all mean?" and " how come hair will not grow on my head but grows real fast on my ears and back?" you know the deep stuff. I believe in Jesus Christ and that He died for all. The rest I am still working on.

  1. That sunflower certainly is a suncatcher! I was out today looking for the crows that frequent an area near me, but they were not there… but I came across some neat plants growing in the crevices of huge boulders….no soil…no water…you wonder what they grow on??? but to get the photos I had to shoot into the sun. I too was very happy with the result. I expected the photos to be all out of whack, but they turned out just fine… and I discovered a weed that’s not in my Peterson’s guide … so it’s a new one on me. These little photo shooting walks are great fo keeping my mind full of puzzles.

      1. We do and they are regulars to our little acres of nature. I have yet to capture one with my camera but they are beautiful!

      2. They are the very last birds to build nests and mate because they depend upon the thistle silk for nesting material and eat the seeds. When you study birds you find out the most amazing things! One of the most incredible birds to study is the chickadee. The crow is another character you just can’t help but respect as you learn about it.

      3. We have a murder of crows and a mating pair of hawks living withing a hundred or so yards of our place. The crows know were the hawks are at all times. They are continuously communicating back and forth on the location of the hawks as they travel in search of prey.

    1. I am glad you are keeping your mud full of puzzles as well. I seem to be befuddled more than not but that is o.k. at least I do engage with the nature and humanity.
You mentioned the Peterson Guide. I have yet to be able to commit to buying birds, flower or nature guides. Is it in your opinion a good guide, a great guide? I look up most things online but would love to have a hard copy in hand when out and about.
As an aside the Bride loves crows!

      1. I love crows too. I invest in guides whenever I have a few dollars since I love to know what I’m seeing. I’ve inherited some fabulous insect and butterfly/moth books that have hundreds of color plates…but I needed a wildflower guide for my area. Since I draw for poetry all over the place I have to pretty much keep familiar with birds and wildlife both fauna and flora … but any guide you get will fail you once in awhile. So I’ll probably have to go on-line to see if I can find it… but that takes a lot of time and it will be awhile befoe I have that kind of time.
Puzzles are fun… there are no answers you know… there really are no answers. But the exploration is something that keeps life vibrant and alive.
