One From A Year Past

I took this picture a year ago almost to the day. I was using my dads Fuji FinePix S700 to compare it to my PowerShot S3is. The S3is was the winner for me because of its remarkable versatility and all around solid performance. Now that my S3is is dead I am going to have to borrow pops little shooter for next weekends Cruise downtown. I am hoping I can translate nature shots into some decent pictures of yesterdays muscle cars.

I am a 61 year old guy who is asking questions about life like "what does it all mean?" and " how come hair will not grow on my head but grows real fast on my ears and back?" you know the deep stuff. I believe in Jesus Christ and that He died for all. The rest I am still working on.

  1. This is a stunning photo of a dragonfly! The detail is so clear! Would you mind if I took a copy for my morgue? (A morgue is a clip file for artists to store images for later research.)

    1. Yes you may. And once again you have expanded my world by introducing me to the one morgue i would not mind visiting! I also have a few more I will share later as well.I am on a mission now to get some decent damesfly photos too.

      1. I think this one is called “Widow Darter”… I’m not sure…. From what I can tell everyone seems to have their own set of names but this looks very much like the Widow Darter … those black patches next to the body… although I don’t remember the yellow lines so I may be wrong. Do you know where you photoed it? I think each section of the country has their own nomenclature.

      2. I took it on our property. I have heard them called Widow Skimmers and this is the only one I have seen, through my lens, with the yellow lines. I have quite of few shots from last several years and they have solid white tails.

      3. Thanks for the name and the cite. Sometimes people ask me what a certain thing is and I like as much info about a subject as I can find….I don’t have any call for dragonflies at this moment, but they are always a popular image with so much about them that works well with poetry. Many thanks.
