My New Friend

This little Lady is part of the family that put on Saturdays house concert. As you can see she has cataracts and is of mature age but is a cutie none the less. The first photo she comes over and is wondering if I have anything good on my plate. The second is after I assure there is and give her some of my chicken leg. Were friends now.

Old Doors In B&W

With the sun shining and me half way mobile I took little road trip today. I decided to keep it simple, photo gear wise, I took my Sony a3000  with me.The Sony a3000 has a lot of cool features and produces nice images right out of the box. The kit lens is OK, a 18-55mm E-mount lens, but since finding out the difference between good glass and great glass I want more. I just have to keep in mind I have a camera and that is more than a lot have. If in the future, and if I can afford to buy a few nice lenses, I hope to be closer to the limits of the camera technically so I get the most from them. Till then I have to learn to shot smarter to get the most out of this camera. With that said I head out to the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site. I walked around the Memorial building, museum and the grounds on this lovely Autumn day. I want to start with what I think are the coolest set of doors I have seen. The first picture is of what I believe was originally the front doors which are no longer used. It seems these doors have settled on their hinges. As there is no one around who knows how to repair these 100 plus year old doors the entrance is now the back set of doors. The second picture is of the entrance doors and the are left open and a set of modern and soulless doors allows entrance to the Memorial Building. I will post a few more this week from the park.

Waiting On The Band

After a long and tiring week, one which I survived some how I must add, I got to close it out with one of my favorite things: Live small venue music. In the back yard of a friend of mine, and supporter of the local music scene, the tension I felt began to unwind as the music began to flow. After the first set we ate some great food, partook of one’s favorite beverage and for me a photo-op. Here is one of the day turning into night as we are waiting on the band.

A Good Day To Be A Duck

The day started out bright, hopeful and nice and warm. Then the rain moved in bring with the gray and cold I love to hate. It is ironic that about the time the day, when it transitioned from pleasant to blah, was when I started calling the hospitals, doctors offices and physicians trying to work out my medical bills.Nice. Instead of feeling blue, funny we feel blue when it is gray…never mind, I went and grabbed a sandwich and went to the lake. Nicely snuggled up in my raincoat, I enjoyed watching the ducks flying around and embracing the day. It seems when it rains ducks eat well or least the one I was enjoying watching did. As I sat there I grabbed my Pop’s old FujiFilm S700 out of the car and took this picture. I post processed it to B&W using Perfect Effects Free 9.I like the feel of this one and I hope you do too.

Two Doors In B&W

Have you ever wondered why it is that at one point in time, for instance when we look at a possible photo-op, we see it differently later than we did at first? I do occasionally and though I have no insight about why, really I have nothing folks,  I do like the challenge it presents. When I reviewed some photos I took several days ago, after a small but seemingly long time of no sunshine, I wondered how I could bring a different feel to it in B&W. I shot this in color but converted it to B&W for you. I did this as an exercise is “seeing” things differently but mostly so it would match the post title ;).
