My point and shots and I have a hard time taking great pictures of anything Red. I understand it has something to do with how digital sensors receive and interpret the color Red. I still feel I should be able to figure out how to take great pictures of natures Reds.
Until then these few will have to do!. Enjoy!

I am a 61 year old guy who is asking questions about life like "what does it all mean?" and " how come hair will not grow on my head but grows real fast on my ears and back?" you know the deep stuff. I believe in Jesus Christ and that He died for all. The rest I am still working on.

Hi, John, Red is also the hardest color to paint. I’ve found that I have to put a yellow underpainting on the hightlights and a blue underpainting on the shadows to give form to red. But to paint a cardinal for example is quite an exercise in color management. I was always impressed with the way Vermeer used the color red…so vigrant… wouthout being gawdy. Pink is much easier to paint with but there is no way to lighten or darken the pure color red without changing the color.
Merrill, glad for your prescriptive on the world of red. One day if time allows I hope to try my hand at painting but till then capturing moments with my camera will do. Till the next time, Peace To You My Friend.
We’re in for our first killing frost tonight. In the 20’s. That’s what we needed in order to have Indian Summer.
Looks pretty good to me. The pinks came out especially well. The last one is quite vibrant. And the red has a nice contrast between the parts in shade and the parts in light.
Thanks Andy. I love roses and red flowers but cannot seem to match my pictures to my minds “eye” so to speak. I guess I need to lighten up and just enjoy the moment.
