No, Not There Yet

The journey with my new Canon SX260 HS is off to a rocky start. I like the long zoom and the screen is very nice but it does not have the same finesse, plus it lacks image stabilization, as my S3is had. I have fiddled around with the manual controls and I will get better with at it over time but right now I feel like a kid on a long journey: Are we there yet? No, not there yet. Here are several from the past weekend. Enjoy!

I like the contrast the bed of dead leaves gives the newly discarded leaf.
I took this in a low little setting right before sundown. I will have to admit I am pretty happy with the SX260’s low light capabilities so far. Time will tell though…
This bottle of sand was just begging for attention. So I was going to give it some but the setting sun coming through the window beat me to it.
I love reflections and the overlaying stories they tell.
I am taking shots of as many flowers as I can before they go to sleep for the winter.

I am a 61 year old guy who is asking questions about life like "what does it all mean?" and " how come hair will not grow on my head but grows real fast on my ears and back?" you know the deep stuff. I believe in Jesus Christ and that He died for all. The rest I am still working on.

  1. Hi, John, late night here… catching up. My computer ate all the photos I had taken with a Kodak a few years ago and I’ve spent the whole night searching them down. That camera couldn’t do anything but I had photos of places I can’t get to now – tons of good shots I need. Sometimes the quality of the photo isn’t as important as its setting. In any event I just use my little old Cannon now – I dropped the Kodak and it hasn’t been right since. The last thing I’d want to do is to try to fiddle around with the manual!!! I’m an “auto” photographer from the word go. Just as you sometimes find the beauty in old buildings and things I find a certain beauty in a photo that hasn’t been manipulated in any way…(but that’s for my own purposes since that’s the philosophy I work under.) The thing as it is.
Still, I am truly glad for you guys who can do wonderful things with photography. So I hope your journey with your new cameral will take you down many paths of wonder and insight along the way. G’night…it’s late.

    1. Most of my photos are untouched by photo editing tools. That is why I get upset when I “miss” the shot.I could edit them but I do not like to.
G’night to you and may you wake rested for the new day.
